Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I’ve received plastic gliders (feet) but they don’t fit.

Please refer to page 5 of your instruction book. The plastic lugs fit into the short side of the hole on the freezer cabinet.  To watch our video demonstration click on the link below.  Please note videos are provided as aid to instruction manuals.

  2. How long do I leave the freezer to stand before switching it on.

Leave the freezer to stand with the lid open for 12 hours before switching on in order to allow the refrigerant to settle after disturbance in transit.

  3. There is condensation on the outside of my freezer.

Please refer to page 9 of your instruction book. This is not a fault. It may also be caused by the lid not being shut properly.

  4. There are scratches on my new freezer.

There is a protective film on the outside of the freezer which may appear to be scratched but if removed will eliminate the scratches. It is tightly bonded to the freezer so it is best to peel from an edge at the back. This also applies if the paint on the outside of your freezer appears to be bubbling.

  5. The lid of my freezer will not shut properly.

If you have a basket please check it is positioned in the centre of the freezer and not to one side. If this is ok it is possible to adjust the height of the lid by loosening the bottom two screws on each hinge and allow the lid to drop into position and then tighten the screws again.

  6. Should I lubricate the plastic hinges on my freezer.

We recommend that you lubricate the plastic hinges with clear oil or fairy liquid.

  7. I haven’t received plastic gliders with my C2AEW ( C2AES) freezer.

Please refer to page 3 of your instruction book. Gliders are not supplied with either of these models.

  8. I don’t have a power lead on my freezer.

The power lead is located at the bottom rear of the freezer tucked in beside the compressor

  9. How soon after switching on can I put food in my freezer.

After the freezer has run for 24 hours switch on the boost switch (amber light will show) and run for at least 4 hours before putting in frozen food.

  10. Can the freezer be stored in a garage or outbuilding.

The siting of freezers in unheated garages/outhouses may in cold weather give rise to condensation. This is not a fault . However the condensation should be removed using a dry cloth.

  11. Where can I buy spares for my freezer

Please refer to the link on the website to order on-line or you can order by telephone on 01847 822228 and pay by debit/credit card.

  12. Why is my freezer making noises.

If it is a gurgling sound this is the refrigerant being pumped round the system. You may also hear a whirring noise when the compressor is running and the thermostat also makes a distinct click when it turns of and on.

  13. Can I claim for food loss if my freezer fails to work.

The manufacturers warranty does not cover for loss of food. It is strongly advised that freezer contents are insured separately.

  14. What should the thermostat control be set at.

Refer to the operating manual but the control should be set to a mid position to obtain the approximate temperature for storing already frozen food.

  15. What do I do if my freezer only works on the fast freeze switch

If your freezer is less than a year old please phone customer services on 01847 822228 and they will arrange for an engineer. If it is over a year old please contact the provider of your extended warranty.

  16. Is it necessary to fit the gliders (feet).

No your freezer will work ok without gliders but they do make it easier to move the freezer across the floor.  To see a video demonstration on how the gliders should be fitted then please refer to our Service Videos page or click on the following link. http://www.norfrost.co.uk/service-videos/i62

  17. How do I register my one years Manufacturers Warranty.

You don’t need to register. Please fill in the details on the back of the instruction book and then retain in a safe place and use in the unlikely event of a breakdown.

  18. When do I use the fast freeze switch.

At any time when loading quantities of unfrozen food switch on for at least 8 hours prior to loading. Always allow 24 hours to ensure complete freezing
